The Supreme Divine Creator’s Call For A Food Wastage Regimen — An Abrahamic Solution
Nearly 1,400 years ago — circa 610CE-632-CE, the Lord commanded humanity to ensure a food waste regimen and prohibited excess waste in the Quran.
“Eat — But waste not by excess: for the Lord does not love the wasters.” (QS 6:141).
According to the Bible, food is wasted by the foolish (Proverbs 21:20), unbelievers’ , gluttony and greediness (Proverbs 25:16). The Book of Proverbs is a book in the third section (called Ketuvim) of the Hebrew Bible and a book of the Christian Old Testament.
Today in 2022, published research has confirmed the Lord’s command and prohibition.
Wasting food has environmental and economic repercussions.
Wasting food contributes to 11 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.
Eat and drink: But waste not by excess, for Allah loveth not the wasters (QS 7: 31).
Food For Thought :
While the world wastes about 1.4 billion tons of food every year, the United States discards more food than any other country in the world: nearly 40 million tons — 80 billion pounds — every year. That’s estimated to be 30–40 percent of the entire US food supply, and equates to 219 pounds of waste per person. That’s like every person in America throwing more than 650 average sized apples right into the garbage.
